Dehd: KCRW Live from HQ

Intimate performances, fresh sounds, and candid conversations with a view.

Dig your scuzziest Converse and comfiest flannel out from the back of your closet because Chicago indie rockers Dehd are here with a wobbly, stripped down sound that does their hometown proud. Almost a decade into their run together, the trio still tours exhaustively, both as headliners and with power-players like Julien Baker, Dry Cleaning, Vundabar, and fellow Chicagoans Twin Peaks. They've also received plenty of support from fans and media outlets alike. Case in point: Pitchfork awarded its coveted "Best New Music” tag to the band’s 2020 LP, Flower of Devotion.

Dehd’s most recent LP Poetry, released in May of 2024, would feel at home in any underground music space between 1980 and now. And their skill at crafting jangly, pop-leaning rock 'n' roll songs will hit just right whenever it reaches your ears.



Ahead of a Nov. 1 return to Los Angeles at The Belasco, the band — Emily Kempf (bass, vocals), Jason Balla (guitar, vocals), and Eric McGrady (drums) — brings obsession-worthy jams like "Hard to Love," and "Mood Ring" along with their **ahem** dehdpan banter to KCRW's Annenberg Performance Studio.
